Top ten for Gamarino in the WSSP race at Jerez

Top ten for Gamarino in the WSSP race at Jerez
The eleventh and penultimate round of the Supersport World Championship concluded at Jerez de la Frontera. The Bardahl Evan Bros. Honda Racing Team and its rider Christian Gamarino achieved ninth place in saturday’s Superpole2 and so the Italian rider lined up on row three for 19-lap race with took place in sunny conditions.

Christian got away well as the red light went out and was lapping in sixth place through the opening laps. As he had seen during practice, his pace was not as strong as the quickest riders and around the mid-race point, Gamarino was lying twelfth. In the final stages though, and despite tyre wear, the Bardahl Evan Bros. Honda Racing team rider gritted his teeth and made up two positions to cross the line in tenth place.

The final Supersport round will take place over the weekend of 2-4 November at the Losail track in Qatar.

Christian Gamarino: “I’m quite pleased with my race. I gota way well but I’d already seen in the practice sessions that my pace wasn’t at the level of the fastest guys and I started to lose a few positions. In the final part of the race I pushed to the max, even though the tyres were almost done. I took a risk, but was able to pass two riders up ahead, bringing home a tenth-place finish which is probably the best I could have done. Big thanks to my team for all their help here at Jerez”.
